I'm a little surprised from myself how upset it made me feel.  I knew and felt that this is the situation but I believe that open and honest communication, care about my feelings, and emotional investment that was already done, played it role. It's so rare that I'm interested. 

And maybe it's just a matter of timing and emotional availability - we'll see how it will develop.
